Seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson announced on Monday that he will test for Chip Ganassi Racing on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course next week.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver is in his last full time season of NASCAR competition and has expressed an interest in competing in the NTT IndyCar Series in road course events.
The test will provide Johnson with a great opportunity to get a feel for the car with the Aeroscreen.
Johnson attended IndyCar Spring Training at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas in February as a guest of Arrow McLaren SP. The test at. IMS next week could lead to a potential race opportunity in the future.
Johnson will compete on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on Saturday as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Brickyard to the Pennzoil 150 which is the first of a triple header alongside the IndyCar GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis presented by AMR and Sunday’s Big Machine Hand Sanitizer Brickyard 400.
