Team Penske owner Roger Penske has confirmed that his outfit will not run Danica Patrick in next year’s 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.
Speaking in Miami ahead of Sunday’s NASCAR season finale, The Captain said that he sent Ganassi a message of congratulations after Chip confirmed that he has held initial talks with Patrick about a seat.
Penske said that he believes that a seat at Chip Ganassi Racing alongside Scott Dixon and Ed Jones for Patrick would be the perfect pairing.
Penske said he believes that Patrick’s return to the Indianapolis 500 is terrific for the Verizon IndyCar Series and that he believes that in a good car and with plenty of practice she will get up to speed very quickly.
Penske will have four cars in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with Josef Newgarden, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves returning to the Verizon IndyCar Series from the IMSA WhetherTech championship.
