Chip Ganassi has confirmed that following the sale of the his Monster NASCAR Cup Series team to Justin Marks and PitBull’s Trackhouse Entertainment Group he is very interested in running a fifth IndyCar full-time in 2022.
Speaking to members of the media on Saturday at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course ahead of Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 presented by HPD Ridgeline Ganassi said he would love to run Kevin Magnussen full-time in IndyCar next season.
When asked if Kevin Magnussen who is currently competing in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship in the Cadillac DPi class would have to bring sponsorship to the team, Ganassi said he would.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s IndyCar team are currently enjoying one of their best seasons in recent years having won four races so far this season.
Alex Palou who leads the championship by 26 points has won two races while Scott Dixon has scored one victory.
Marcus Ericsson took his maiden career victory in Detroit last month.
