Hulman and Company, the parent company of the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway confirmed on Sunday ahead of NASCAR’s Crown Royal 400 that former president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tony George has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hulman and Company.

CEO of Hulman & Company Mark Miles confirmed that George was appointed to the role in March and has replaced his mother Mari Hulman.

George’s step son, Ed Carpenter is the owner driver of the Verizon IndyCar Series team Ed Carpenter Racing who field Josef Newgarden and Luca Filippi.
