Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing add a second full-time car to their Verizon IndyCar Series programme for the 2018 season with Takuma Sato returning to the team alongside Graham Rahal.
The Brownsburg, Indiana based outfit have confirmed that Eddie Jones will serve as race engineer for 2017 Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato who has joined the team from Andretti Autosport.
In adding a second car to their operation, RLL have increased their chance of success for 2018 as the team will now have twice the amount of data they can use to improve the performance of the car and as the saying goes, ‘two heads are better than one’.
In 2017, Graham Rahal scored two victories when he won the double header in Detroit and finished the season as the highest placed non Penske or Ganassi entrant.
Sato, who joined Andretti Autosport in 2017 from AJ Foyt Racing says he has matured as a driver and has a lot more experience than he did the first time he raced for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2012 and he hopes that this will help him and the team to achieve some strong results together in 2018.
Team co-owner Bobby Rahal hopes that his team can once again be the top Honda powered team in 2018 have been extremely strong in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2017.
