Veteran Verizon IndyCar Series engineer Tom German has joined Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for the 2017 season.

German has a long distinguished career in the IndyCar Series having worked with Team Penske, most recently German worked on the engineering team that helped Alexander Rossi to win his the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.

German joins Rahal as a technical consultant on a multi-year deal. Speaking about signing German, RLLR co-owner Bobby Rahal commented by saying:

We are very pleased to welcome Tom to our team. “His record speaks volumes and I have no doubt having Tom work in conjunction with Eddie Jones, Martin Pare, Mike Talbott and Alex Farina will generate much success for all of our drivers, now and in the future.

German commented on his new role by saying:

I have known Mr. Rahal for a number of years and am impressed with his ability to attract and retain quality people. “This vision is yielding results; Graham and the team have led the Honda contingent for the past two seasons and established themselves as championship contenders. I appreciate the opportunity to join the team.

The 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season gets underway on March 12 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
