North Carolina governor Roy Cooper has confirmed it is too early to say when NASCAR will race at Charlotte Speedway however his counterpart in Texas, Greg Abbott has given the green light for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series to head to Texas Motor Speedway at some point in the near future but that due to the COVID19 global pandemic it will take place behind closed doors. In a tweet on Monday, Governor Abbott said:
Just spoke to @NASCAR leaders.
They’re working to return to Texas at Texas Motor Speedway very soon.
I hope to announce the exciting details in the near future.
To prevent spread of #COVID19 it will be without fans.
But they will put on a great show for TV.
