BMW I Andretti Motorsport Team Principal Roger Griffiths says that he is happy with the progress the team have made compared to last season but says that the team need to more consistent.
Speaking to Paddock Eye ahead of this week’s final races of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E season in Berlin Griffiths said that it is a case where the team have either finished on the podium or finished outside the points, Griffth said that he was super happy with Maximilian Günther’s performance on Saturday when he took victory.
In the second race however, Günther retired from the race on the opening lap of the race while Alexander Sims finished the race outside the points.
Griffiths said that he doesn’t want to spoil DS Techeetah’s celebrations but he wants to ensure that that BMW I Andretti Motorsport’s can finish off the sewson with a podium finish in the Constructors championship, three points behind Nissan eDams.
Speaking about Andretti’s partnership with BMW Motorsport, Griffiths said that the responsibility lies with Andretti to make the most of the partnership and they are in each others pockets with weekly progress meetings and by having a shared goal it hS helped the team move foward.
BMW I Andretti Motorsport have scored three wins this season and said that altered track layout at Templehof Airport this week will see the team adopt a different race strategy.
Griffith says that the team need to improve in qualifying and become more consistent as it will allow the drivers to unlock the full potential of the BMW power train.
Griffiths revealed that he worked with NASCAR star Kurt Busch in the 2014 Indianapolis 500 where he finished in 6th place and he believes he could get a call for next weekend’s 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Andretti Autosport have six cars entered for the race. The 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E season concludes in Berlin on Wednesday and Thursday.
