Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing’s Romain Grosjean in the No.52 Honda says that he felt like the Aeroscreen wasn’t in place following his first test in an NTT IndyCar Series machine at Barber Motorsports Park on Tuesday.
Speaking to Paddock Eye following the test, the Frenchman said that the Aeroscreen wasn’t an issue at all and he forgot that it was on the car.
Speaking about his test in Barber he said that is always beneficial to test at a track that you are going to race however he said that he still has a lot to learn to go faster.
Well, the aeroscreen wasn’t an issue at all and I completely forgot it was on, so that was good. Testing in Barber, obviously it’s always good and we kind of come racing here. But I still feel like I’ve got some stuff to learn in the car to go faster, so that’s what I’m going to be doing in the next few days before we go testing in Laguna Seca.
Q. How beneficial is it for you to have Ed with you?
Yeah, it’s been good. I’ve been looking at data, and I’ll keep doing that, keep understanding. I need to get used to also the PI system that we use to look at data, but I’m definitely going to work on that and make sure that I understand what it does different, where I’m faster and what I can do to improve myself.
Grosjean also said that it is great to spent the day working with this team mate Ed Jones looking over each others data and he also said that he will spend time working on the PI system which they can monitor their performances on track ahead of the next test at Laguna Seca.
Grosjean was asked about the Firestone tires and he said that he didn’t run the red walled tires today but that he was happy with the performance of the black walled Primary tires.
