AJ Foyt Racing President Larry Foyt says that despite reports to the contrary, former Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean was never an option for a seat in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2021.

Foyt was speaking during a Zoom conference call on Tuesday where it was confirmed that Canadian Dalton Kellett will step up to a full-time drive in the No.4 K Line Insulator Chevrolet in 2021 alongside Sebastian Bourdais.

Foyt said that the intention was always to bring Kellett back as a full-time driver.

Foyt confirmed the team would like to have three cars full-time in the future but that this is not going to happen in 2021.

Foyt confirmed that the team are hopeful of running a third car for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge in May.

Foyt also confirmed that Charlie Kimball’s departure from the team was a mutual one and he hopes the Californian finds a seat for 2021.
