Andretti Autosport’s Romain Grosjean in the No28 Delaware Life DHL HOnda took pole position for SUnday’s Children’s Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park in a closely contested Firestone Fast Six shootout. The result was ANdretti’s second consecutive NTT P1 Award following Kyle Kirkwood’s last time out in Long Beach.
Grosjean set a 01:05.8396s and starts the race just ahead of 2021 winner Alex Palou in the No.10 Ridgeline Lubricants Honda who set a time of 01:05.9130s while Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward starts the race from third with a time of 01:05.9382s just ahead of Scott McLaughlin who was the only Penske car to make it through to the Fast six.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda who has nine podiums from 12 starts here but has yet to head to victory lane here starts from P5 just ahead of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Christian Lundgaard in the No.45 Hy Vee Honda.
Three-time Barber winner Josef Newgarden in the No.2 PPG Chevrolet just missed out on the Fast 6 in seventh just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist and Rinus VeeKay. Alexander Rossi rounds out the top ten for Arrow McLaren just ahead of Will Power and Long Beach winner Kyle Kirkwood . Marcus Ericsson starts the race from 13th just ahead of Colton Herta and Callum Ilott.
Simon Pagenaud starts the race from P16 just ahead of David Malukas and Devlin DeFrancesco and Graham Rahal. Conor Daly rounds out the top 20 just ahead of Helio Castroneves and Agustin Canapino and Sting Ray Robb.
Jack Harvey starts the race from 24th just ahead of Benjamin Pedersen who out-qualified his teammate Santino Ferrucci who starts the race from 27th just behind Marcus Armstrong.
