Dale Coyne Racing’s Esteban Gutierrez will join the rest of the Verizon IndyCar Series drivers at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the Rainguard Water Sealers 600.
The Mexican who made his Verizon IndyCar Series debut with the double header in Detroit last weekend will tackle an oval event for the first time.
Some have questioned whether or not his is ready to race on a high speed oval such as Texas Motor Speedway but he is.
Dale Coyne has been involved in the Verizon IndyCar Series for a long-time and would not have put Gutierrez in the car for the rest of the season of he felt the Mexican couldn’t handle it.
Gutierrez also has a fantastic mentor and resource in four time CART champion Sebastien Bourdais.
The race in Texas is held at night and Gutierrez will be able to draw on his experience of racing under lights at the Singapore Grand Prix in Formula One.
The on track action for the Rainguard Water Sealers 600 gets underway on Friday.
