Haas F1 Team founder Gene Haas described Romain Grosjean’s Australian Grand Prix result as ‘awesome’. The Frenchman who started today’s race from 19th place on the grid took advantage of the red flag brought on lap 17 and came home in sixth place.

It was the first time since Toyota in 2002 that a brand new team scored points on their debut.

Prior to the start of the season, Mr Haas stated that he believed that the team could score points on their debut and that is exactly what happened. The American outfit had a tough time in winter testing.

The outfit certainly are not a so called Ferrari B team they had a fantastic day in Melbourne on merit and it was an absolutely fantastic performance.

While Romain Grosjean score points it was a disappointing day for team mate Esteban Gutierrez as the Mexican was involved in the huge crash with Fernando Alonso but fortunately both drivers were ok.
