Haas F1 Team Principal Guenther Steiner has angered a number of big names in the Verizon IndyCar Series after he suggested that the reason his team don’t have an American driver on their books is because American drivers aren’t ready for Formula One.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal, one of the leading drivers in the Verizon IndyCar Series tweeted on Friday in response to the Haas F1 boss saying:
@HaasF1Team if you really believe that, why don’t you call some of us, give it a shot?
Speaking about American drivers, Rahal commented by saying:
American drivers are damn good. I stand by that, there’s lots of talent here. Stay in
@indycar, it’s far more competitive anyways!
Rahal went on to talk about the Haas F1 Team saying:
Conor Daly took to Twitter to say
How can you possibly call yourselves an “American” team and totally berate your entire “home” nationality of drivers? there hasn’t even been a hint of consideration of any well established American drivers over here.
