The Haas F1 Team have revealed their 2017 car, the VF-17 in the Barcelona pit-lane ahead of the start of winter testing on Monday morning.

The Kannapolis based outfit who enter into their second season of Formula One competition this year conducted a filming day on Saturday at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya.

Kevin Magnussen who joins the team following a year with Renault will drive the car on the opening two days of testing while Romain Grosjean will be in the car on day 3 and 4.

Speaking about participating in Formula One, Gene Haas, founder of the American team commented by saying:

Being a Formula One participant brings a level of credibility that you just won’t get through traditional advertising. Bigger, Better, Faster, Lighter is what we strive for in the machining industry and it’s what we strive for in motorsports. People see what we can do in Formula One, and people believe Haas Automation can build world-class machine tools.

Speaking about the new car, Haas F1 Team Principal Guenther Steiner commented by saying:

I think the pedal box is the same, but all the rest is very different from last year’s car. “You always try to make a faster car, which is normally a lighter car. Now we can put on more ballast and get better weight distribution. The aero is completely new, as are the tires, so we needed to have some built-in adjustability.

Aesthetically, the car has a more aggressive look. It’s lighter and more aerodynamically efficient. Everything we learned from our first car has been applied to our new car.

The Haas F1 Team finished their first season in Formula One in eighth place on 29 points. The 2017 Formula One season gets underway on March 26 with the Australian Grand Prix.
