Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton ended the opening day of the final race weekend of the 2017 season as the fastest of all. The Mercedes driver set a fastest time of 01:37.877s ending the day just ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel who led the opening session this morning.
Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest just ahead of Kimi Raikkonen who ended the session just above his fellow Finn, Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes.
Max Verstappen in the second Red Bull was sixth in the second Red Bull just ahead of Force India’s Sergio Perez. Esteban Ocon in the second Force India was eighth fastest just ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg while McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso rounded out the top ten.
On his final Friday race weekend as a Formula One driver, Williams Martini Racing’s Felipe Massa was 11th fastest just ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne in the second McLaren.
Carlos Sainz in the second Renault was 13th fastest just ahead of Lance Stroll in the second Williams while Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly was 15th fastest ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen.
Pascal Wehrlein was 17th for the Sauber F1 Team just ahead of his team mate Marcus Ericsson.
Brendan Hartley was 19th fastest for Toro Rosso just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean who rounded out the order in 20th place.
