The Chinese Grand Prix weekend hasn’t even started yet and already reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton has his work cut out for him.

The triple world champion who goes into round three of the Formula One season 17 points behind team mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg has been handed a five place grid penalty after the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team were forced to change his gearbox ahead of the on track action.

Hamilton has endured a tough start to his title defense having finished the season opening Australian Grand Prix behind Nico Rosberg who took victory while last time out in Bahrain he ended the race in third place behind Rosberg and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who scored his first podium finish of the season.
