Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton took a dominant victory in the United States Grand Prix leading home a Mercedes team 1-2 with championship leader Nico Rosberg finishing the race in second place.
Red Bull Racing extended their lead in the race for second place in the championship with Daniel Ricciardo finishing the race on the podium in third place.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel benefited from his team mate Kimi Raikkonen’s retirement from the race as he finished the race in fourth place just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso. Carlos Sainz equaled his best result finishing the race in sixth place just ahead of Felipe Massa and Force India’s Sergio Perez.
McLaren Honda’s Jenson Button did an incredible job coming through the field from 19th place on the grid to finish the race in ninth place. It was also a great race for the Haas F1 Team as Romain Grosjean who rounded out the top ten, scoring a point the outfit in their home race.
The Renault Sport F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen was left disappointed as he just missed out on a points finish ending the race in 11th place.
Daniil Kvyat ended the race in 12th place for Toro Rosso ending the race just ahead of Jolyon Palmer while Marcus Ericsson came home in 14th place. Felipe Nasr finished the race in 15th place for the Sauber F1 Team.
Valtteri Bottas had a disappointing race coming home in 16th place just ahead of Pascal Wehrlein while Esteban Ocon rounded out the order in 18th place.
It was a disastrous race for Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who retired from the race following a mistake by his pit-crew. The Iceman rolled his car back down the pit-lane after what was suspected as a lose wheel.
Nico Hulkenberg retired from the race as did Max Verstappen with gearbox failure. The Haas F1 Team’s Esteban Gutierrez also retired from the race.
