Mercedes Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix from pole position having set a qualifying time of 01:18.704s and will start the race just ahead of his team mate and championship rival Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton goes into the race on Sunday with a 26 point deficit to Rosberg in the race for the championship.

Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen starts the race from third place on the grid just ahead of his team mate Daniel Ricciardo with Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg doing a great job to start the race in fifth place.

For the second race in succession Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen out-qualified his team mate Sebastian Vettel however the Iceman reported an engine issue at the end of the session so that may have an impact on his start position on Sunday. Valtteri Bottas starts the race from 8th place with his Williams team mate Felipe Massa alongside him in ninth as the Grove based outfit look to close the gap to Force India in the race for fourth place in the championship.

Carlos Sainz rounds out the top ten for Toro Rosso. Fernando Alonso will get to choose his tyres for the race on Sunday as he starts the event from 11th place for McLaren Honda.

Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez was left disappointed as he will start his home race in 12th place for the Sahara Force India Formula One Team just ahead of Jenson Button in the second McLaren.

Renault Sport F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen did a good job for the Enstone outfit as he will start the race from 14th place on the grid just ahead of Marcus Ericsson’s Sauber in 15th place.

It was a fantastic session for Manor Racing’s Pascal Werhlein who will start the race from 16th place on the grid barring any penalties ahead of him.

The Haas F1 Team’s Esteban Gutierrez starts his home race from 17th place just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat and Sauber’s Felipe Nasr. Esteban Ocon starts the race from 20th place just ahead of Romain Grosjean’s Haas.

As Paddock Eye reported at the start of qualifying, Renault Sport F1 Team’s Jolyon Palmer starts the race from the pit-lane having failed to participate in the session due to a cracked chassis.
