Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Lewis Hamilton just beat Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen at the 2021 Formula One season opening Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit.
Verstappen led from the start but in the closing stages of the lap Verstappen took was second following the second stops and overtook Hamilton but gained an advantage and gave the place back giving Hamilton the win.
Valtteri Bottas was third just ahead of McLaren Racing’s Lando Norris who had a great race for the Woking based outfit to finish fourth.
Sergio Perez had a wonderful event for Red Bull as he recovered from a pit-lane start to come home in fifth place on his debut for the Milton Keynes based outfit.
Charles Leclerc was sixth for Ferrari just ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz in the second Ferrari.
Yuki Tsunoda ended his first ever Grand Prix in the points in ninth place for Scuderia Alpha Tauri’s while Lance Stroll rounded out the top ten. Kimi Raikkonen came from 14th on the grid to finish in 11th just ahead of his team mate Antonio Giovinazzi.
Esteban Ocon was 13th just ahead of George Russell and Sebastian Vettel while Mick Schumacher was 16th on his debut for the Haas F1 Team.
Nikiti Mazepin returned on his debut having brought out the new Aston Martin Vantage safety car on the opening lap of the race.
Pierre Gasly was 17th while on his return Fernando Alonso suffered a brake failure and was forced to retire. Nicholas Latifi was classified in 18th.
