Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Lewis Hamilton who started the race from pole position has taken victory in today’s Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Valtteri Bottas finished the race in second place just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel came from the back of the field after being hit by Max Verstappen at the start of the race to finish the race in fourth place just ahead of Force India pairing of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon.
Kimi Raikkonen suffered brake by wire problems and finished the race in seventh place as a result just ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg.
It was a fantastic race for Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll, who in his first home Grand Prix picked up points with a ninth place finish and in doing so secured his points as a Formula One driver. The Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean rounded out the top ten.
Jolyon Palmer finished the race in 11th place just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen.
Marcus Ericsson finished the race in 13th place for the Sauber F1 Team just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Stoffel Vandoorne. Pascal Wehrlein was the last of the runners in 15th place.
It was a disappointing end to the race for McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso as in his first race back since the Indianapolis 500 he was forced to retire from the race with an engine failure. It was also a disappointing race for Toro Rosso as Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz retired from the race. Max Verstappen and Felipe Massa also retired from the race.
There was a safety car after Felipe Massa was involved in a crash with Carlos Sainz.
