Andretti Global’s Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda was the pacesetter on race day warm up at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding. Herta who starts today’s race from 4th place set a time of 59.9367s.
Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda who starts today’s race from 11th place finished warm up in second place with a time of 59.9734s ending the session just ahead of his teammate and defending series champion Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda who starts today’s race from 13th place.
Scott McLaughlin was fourth fastest just ahead of his teammate and polesitter Josef Newgarden in the No.2 PPG Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet while Christian Lundgaard was 6th fastest just ahead of Pato O’Ward and Graham Rahal.
Romain Grosjean had another strong session for Juncos Hollinger Racing as he ended the session in ninth place. Felix Rosenqvist in the No.60 AutoNation SIrius XM Honda who starts the race from the front row rounded out the top ten despite bringing out the red flag in the last few seconds of the session.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Linus Lundqvist was 11th just ahead of his teammate Marcus Armstrong while Marcus Ericsson of Andretti Global was 13th fastest just ahead of Rinus VeeKay who starts today’s race from seventh.
Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet was 15th just ahead of Kyle Kirkwood and Pietro Fittipaldi. Santino Ferrucci who starts the race from 14th place ended warm up in 18th place just ahead of Arrow McLaren’s Callum Ilott. Agustin Canapino rounded out the top twenty.
Tom Blomqvist was 21st just ahead of Kyffin Simpson and Sting Ray Robb while Jack Harvey was 24th just ahead of Alexander Rossi. Christian Rasmussen was 26th while Colin Braun rounded out the order in 27th place.
