Andretti Global’s Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda was the fastest in the opening practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Friday.
In what was a dramatic opening practice which saw both Marcus Armstrong and Graham Rahal suffer suspected engine issues and Rinus VeeKay suffer a water leak, Herta set a fastest time of 01:09.2863s.
It was an absolutely fantastic session for Juncos Hollinger Racing as Agustin Canapino was the fastest Chevrolet-powered car in second place with a time of 01:09.3713s.
Will Power was third just ahead of Rinus VeeKay while Marcus Ericsson was fourth fastest for Andretti Global.
It wad a great session for Christian Lundgaard who was sixth just ahead of Scott McLaughlin and Felix Rosenqvist while it was also a great session for Santino Ferrucci and AJ Foyt Racing who round3d out the top ten.
Pato O’Ward was 11th just ahead of Scott Dixon and Kyle Kirkwood while Josef Newgarden was 14th in the No.2 Snap-On Chevrolet.
Meyer Shank Racing’s Tom Blomqvist was 15th just ahead of Christian Rasmussen and Alex Palou.
Pietro Fittipaldi was 18th just ahead of Thèo Pourchaire who stopped on track.
Jack Harvey was 20th just ahead of Romain Grosjean and Kyffin Simpson while Linus Lundqvist was 23rd.
Luca Ghiotto was 24th just ahead of Graham Rahal and Sting Ray Robb while Marcus Armstrong failed to set a time.
