On the same day that team owner Michael Andretti officially opened Andretti Global’s UK base near Silverstone, UK, Herta set a 225.907MPH.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda was second fastest giving HRC a 1-2 finish.
The Iceman’s fastest speed was 224.567MPH just ahead of Ed Carpenter.
Kyle Kirkwood was fourth fastest just ahead of Ed Carpenter Racing rookie Christian Rasmussen who set a 223.591MPH just ahead of Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist.
Marcus Ericsson was seventh just ahead of Pato O’Ward and Rinus VeeKay while Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Christian Lundgaard rounded out the top ten.
Linus Lundqvist was 11th for Chip Ganassi Racing just ahead of Arrow McLaren’s Kyle Larson.
Sting Ray Robb was 13th just ahead of Alexander Rossi while defending Indianapolis 500 winner Josef Newgarden was 15th just ahead of his teammate Scott McLaughlin while Romain Grosjean was 17th for Juncos Hollinger Racing.
Nolan Siegel was 18th just ahead of his Dale Coyne Racing teammate Katherine Legge who was confirmed to compete in her second consecutive Indy 500 on Tuesday.
Santino Ferrucci was 20th for AJ Foyt Racing just ahead of Tom Blomqvist and Marcus Armstrong.
Callum Ilott was 23rd just ahead of Graham Rahal, Will Power and Alex Palou.
Kyffin Simpson was 27th just ahead of the Dreyer and Reinbold Racing with Cusick Motorsports duo of Ryan Hunter-Reay and Conor Daly.
Pietro Fittipaldi was 30th while Agustín Canapino rounded out the order in 31st. Testing is scheduled to continue on Thursday.
