Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Andretti Global Honda was fastest in the second practice on the streets of Detroit on Saturday morning with a time of 1:01.7823s. In contrast, Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 TireRack.com Chevrolet was second fastest just ahead of Kyle Kirkwood.
It was an excellent session for PREMA Racing’s Callum Ilott, who ended the session in fourth place with a time of 01:02.1450s just ahead of Louis Foster and Felix Rosenqvist. At the same time, Christian Rasmussen was seventh just ahead of Christian Lundgaard and Graham Rahal.
Marcus Ericsson rounded out the top ten for Andretti Global while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda set a time of 01:02.4959s, ending the morning just ahead of championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda.
David Malukas was 13th for AJ Foyt Racing, just ahead of Devlin DeFrancesco and Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Astemo Team Penske Chevrolet, who ended his run early after hitting the wall.
Rinus VeeKay was 16th fastest in the No.18 askROI Honda, just ahead of Robert Schwartzman and Team Penske’s Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet.
Alexander Rossi was 19th just ahead of Kyffin Simpson, while Nolan Siegel was 21st just ahead of Santino Ferrucci and Pato O’Ward. Marcus Armstrong was 24th just ahead of Jacob Abel, while Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Conor Daly and Sting Ray Robb rounded out the order.
