Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe will drive at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway later this week for the first time since his horrific accident during practice for last year’s Indianapolis 500.
The Mayor of Hinchtown will join 16 of his Verizon IndyCar Series rivals at the one day test at IMS in order for Chevrolet and Honda to test their super speedway aero kits ahead of next month’s 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. Speaking about his up coming test at the Brickyard, Hinchcliffe commented by saying:
I think until you come back to Indy and get those first laps under your belt and get through Turn 3 incident-free, then I think it will be fully closed, I’m 99.9 percent of the way there. I just need a couple of hot laps through (Turn) 3 and I’ll be good to go.
The next race, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach takes place from April 15 – 17.
