Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona International Raceway later this month.
The Verizon IndyCar Series star spent the weekend testing in Florida in the brand new Mazda prototype.
The Mayor Of HinchTown will drive the No.70 Mazda Racing entry alongside full season drivers Tom Long and Joel Miller. Hinch was extremely quick ending one of the seven test sessions over the course of the weekend as the fastest Mazda driver. Speaking about the new car, the Canadian commented by saying:
Luckily these cars are getting faster and faster, with more and more downforce, and they are getting closer to Indy car performance. The biggest difference is having a roof over your head.
Tom Long is delighted to have the 2016 Indianapolis 500 P1 Award winner in the car with him commenting by saying:
What a great guy to work with and just be around. “And obviously, a major talent behind the wheel.
Hinchcliffe who will compete in the Race of Champions the week before the Rolex 24 Hours went on to say:
It’s such an iconic race, with such a rich history. “So many drivers from so many disciplines, all in one spot. You have guys from INDYCAR, guys from NASCAR, guys from all different levels of racing, and some of them are your heroes. It’s a really cool event.
