Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe said that he absolutely believed that he would once again roll into Verizon IndyCar Series Victory Lane following his accident during practice for the .2015 Indianapolis 500.
The Mayor of HinchTown took victory in Sunday’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach following a fierce battle with Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay.
Speaking in Victory Lane after the race, Hinchcliffe said that absolutely he believed that he would be in the winners circle in the Verizon IndyCar Series while he recovered from his near fatal injuries.
Hinchcliffe heaped praise on his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team and his No.5 Arrow Electronics crew.
Everything came together for the Canadian and has now moved into second place in the series points standing just behind points leader Sebastien Bourdais who secured his second podium finish in a row.
The great thing about Hinch’s win was that every driver up and down pit-road are delighted with Hinchcliffe’s first win since Alabama in 2015.
