Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Electronics Honda ended the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Verizon IndyCar Series season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg with the second fastest time.

The Mayor of HinchTown who suffered a small issue with his car on Friday put in a fastest time of 01:01.6660s and was the first driver to break the 01:01 barrier.

Hinch ended the opening session on Friday morning in fourth place while in the afternoon session he ended up in seventh place giving the Canadian a combined seventh fastest time of the day having completed 29 laps.

The Mayor’s performances so far this weekend bode well for qualifying later today for the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg, a race that Hinch won in 2013, he maiden win in the Verizon IndyCar Series with Andretti Autosport.
