The ABC Supply 500 gets underway in a matter of hours at Pocono Raceway and after a summer of Chevrolet dominance, Honda have come to the front with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Mikhail Aleshin claiming his first Verizon P1 Award with the No.7 SMP Racing Honda.
A very very happy Takuma Sato in the No.14 ABC Supply Co AJ Foyt Racing Honda will start the race from third place giving Honda two cars in the top three.
Honda have been extremely fast so far this weekend with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports leading the pack in the opening session on Saturday morning with Mikhail Aleshin and James Hinchcliffe topping the time sheets.
The Schmidt Peterson duo showed fantastic pace on Saturday, something the team will be hoping they can translate into race performance today.
Andretti Autosport did a great job in qualifying with Carlos Munoz qualifying his No.26 Honda in fifth place just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe. Alexander Rossi did a great job in the No.98 Castrol EDGE Honda as he will start the race from seventh place.
Aleshin’s Verizon P1 Award is Honda’s second of the season with James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Honda Schmidt Peterson Motorsports who took the Verizon P1 Award at the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.
The ABC Supply 500 is a long race so anything can happen but Honda are certainly in with a great chance of winning today.
