Renault F1 Team driver Nico Hulkenberg has reportedly been offered a part time NTT IndyCar Series drive with Ed Carpenter Racing for the 2020 season.

Reports in Germany say that the former Williams, Sauber and Racing Point driver has been offered a drive alongside team owner Ed Carpenter in the No.20 Chevrolet and full time driver Spencer Pigot. Paddock Eye understands that prior to announcing the signing of Oliver Askew and Patricio O’Ward that Nico Hulkenberg who is being replaced at the Renault F1 Team by Esteban Ocon was offered a drive with Arrow McLaren SP but refused it as he does not want to compete in oval events.

The German had been looking to remain in Formula One however Alfa Romeo Racing kept Antonio Giovinazzi alongside Kimi Raikkonen for 2020 while Hulkenberg said a return to Williams is not an option.
