Sahara Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg is set to leave the Silverstone based outfit at the end of the season.
The German is set to join the Renault Sport F1 Team on a two year deal. Paddock Eye understands that the deal also has an option for a third year. Hulkenberg is under contract with Force India for next season however it is believed he has a get out clause in the contract.
Renault has been looking at their driver options for next season following an extremely difficult return to the sport as a works team.
The Enstone based outfit had approached Hulkenberg’s team mate Sergio Perez however the Mexican has now committed his future to the Sahara Force India Formula One Team. The French manufacturer also approached Carlos Sainz however Red Bull warned the team off the Spaniard.
It is believed that the team may recall Esteban Ocon from the Manor Racing Team, Ocon was the test and reserve driver with Enstone outfit last season before moving up to a race seat with Manor this year.
The Sahara Force India Formula One Team are currently in fourth place in the Constructors championship while Renault are currently in ninth place in the championship on eight points.
It is understood that the deal will be concluded by the next race, the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas.
