McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has revealed that former Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg is top of the list for a potential drive alongside Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist at the Arrow McLaren SP NTT IndyCar Series team next season.
Hulkenberg will test for Arrow McLaren SP at Barber Motorsports Park tomorrow (Monday) as he evaluates the opportunity to race in IndyCar next season.
Speaking to the media in Austin on Saturday ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Zak Brown revealed that the team are aiming to run a third car part-time in the IndyCar Series in 2022 including the Indianapolis 500.
Brown also revealed that they will run a third car full-time in 2023.
Nico Hulkenberg tweeted:
I am pleased to try out an Indy car and see what it’s all about. I want to thank @ArrowMcLarenSP and Chevy for the opportunity at relatively short notice. It will be great to drive a car for the first time and get a feel for the series ✌🏼 https://t.co/Gn9bLGg52Z
