Chip Ganassi Racing’s Managing Director Mike Hull who calls the shots for Scott Dixon’s No.9 PNC Bank Honda says he is excited with the activation of the primary sponsorship of the Iceman’s car.
Speaking on Saturday in Phoenix, Hull said that the team are excited to help PNC Bank launch their commercial banking sector.
In terms of the teams programme for Saturday, Hull said that Dixon would be working on set up for the race in April with the team opting to hold back a set of Firestone sticker tires as the session takes place under lights which will give the team a better understanding of the set up of the car as the conditions will be very similar to what they can expect at the race in April.
On Friday, Scott Dixon finished the session in eighth place and speaking following the day in the car, he commented by saying:
There are a lot of unknowns here with the new car to be honest. We are trying to do a lot of things and go through a lot of changes to understand this car. One of the main focuses here at the Phoenix test is mechanical grip. We are spending time developing it and doing our homework with the goal of being ready for the start of the season, as well as when we come back here for the race in the PNC Bank car.
Ed Jones in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda ended the day in 18th place and speaking following the session he commented by saying:
I’ve been looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the NTT Data car since our test in Sebring earlier this year. This is obviously my first oval test in the new car, so track time is key and I have a lot to pick up in a short time before we start the season. Today we focused on trying different things in order to see what suits me best.
