Ryan Hunter Reay had officially confirmed that he will leave Andretti Autosport at the end of the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season.

Following months of speculation, RHR has stated that this year was always going to be his and long term partner DHL’s last season with Andretti Autosport.

The news comes ahead of this weekend’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Worldwide Technology Raceway.

Hunter Reay who won the IndyCar championship in 2012 and the Indianapolis 500 in 2014 told racer.com that he is looking for a new challenge but is not sure what that will entail.

It is possible that he could opt to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and continue to contest the Indianapolis 500.

So eho could replace Hunter-Reay? The answer is likely to be Romain Grosjean who has had an extremely impressive debut season in the NTT IndyCar Series with Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing.
