The driver of the No.28 DHL Honda set a fastest speed of 219.268MPH ending the session just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Tony Kanaan.
Marco Andretti was third fastest in the No.27 United Fiber and Data Honda just ahead of Scott Dixon in the No.9 NTT DATA Honda.
Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato was fifth fastest in the No.26 Honda.
Alexander Rossi rounded out the top 6 in the No.98 Curb Honda just ahead of reigning series champion Simon Pagenuad in the No.1 DXC Technology Chevrolet.
Helio Castroneves was eight fastest in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet just ahead of Graham Rahal.
Harding Racing’s Gabby Chaves rounded out the top ten in the No.88 Chevrolet.
JR Hildebrand was 11th for Ed Carpenter Racing just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Max Chilton and Charlie Kimball.
Carlos Munoz was 14th for AJ Foyt Racing just ahead of Ed Carpenter who hit the wall and will have to go the back up No.20 for qualifying later today.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe was 16th just ahead of Team Penske’s Will Power.
Esteban Gutierrez was 17th for Dale Coyne Racing just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Sebastian Saavedra in the No.7 Lucas Oil Honda.
Series points leader Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Chevrolet was 20th just ahead of Conor Daly in the No.4 ABC Supply Co Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing.
Ed Jones rounded out the order in 22nd place after spinning.
