Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda will restart Saturday’s Firestone 600 from second place.
The race which was suspended on June 11 will restart on Saturday night from lap 72 of 289 with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe leading the race. Hunter Reay who came from the back of the field twice in Pocono on Monday to finish the ABC Supply 500 on the podium in third place spoke about this weekend’s event in Texas:
We had a great start to the race going from 11th to second before the rain started to fall. Hopefully we can carry the momentum from Pocono back to Texas Motor Speedway and get that first win of the season for the DHL Honda. We’ve had a tough season and I hope we can get DHL, AutoNation and Butterball the win they deserve.
Carlos Munoz in the No.26 Honda who took his maiden Verizon P1 Award at Texas Motor Speedway in June will restart the event from ninth place and speaking about the race the Colombian commented by saying:
Going back to Texas, we’ll be restarting the race ninth after the rain red-flagged the first date. I was leading a lot through the first part of the race – we qualified on pole – so I definitely think the car is going to be good. We only have a 10-minute practice and then the race. Everything is going to be totally different – the weather and everything is going to be different – so we’ll see how the remainder of the race goes. We’re in the fight for some good points, so hopefully we can come out with a podium finish.
Alexander Rossi who retired from Monday’s race at Pocono Raceway will restart the Firestone 600 from 13th place. Speaking ahead of the race on Saturday Rossi commented by saying:
I can’t wait to get back to Texas this weekend. We were very strong in Pocono and I think that should translate into a good result for us. It’s a little bit strange starting a race from where we left off two months ago, but the Castrol Edge Honda is in a good position on the lead lap for when the green flag gets dropped again.
Marco Andretti in the will restart the Firestone 600 from 18th place, one lap down and speaking of the race he commented by saying:
We’re headed back to Texas and will restart in a less-than-ideal situation. When the race was red-flagged, we were a lap down, so we need to make (up) a lap with the Snapple car. We have a lot stacked against us right now, but we won’t give up.
