Chip Ganassi Racing’s Jimmie Johnson says that he is definitely interested in competing in the 24 Hours of LeMans with Hendrick Motorsports in 2023. Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and NASCAR officials announced the LMDH programme.
Johnson, who has competed in endurance races in the Ally Cadillac Hendrick Action Express with Rick Hendrick confirming he would love to have Johnson as one of his drivers if his schedule allows.
Ally, who sponsored Johnson during his final two seasons in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series are reportedly keen to bring Johnson on board for the race while Johnson says he hopes that Rick Hendrick can make the deal happen with Ally.
As for who might partner Johnson, it is thought that Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are in the frame for the Garage 56 programme.
Johnson scored his best IndyCar Series result to date last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway where he came through the field from 18th on the grid to finish the race in sixth place.
