Arrow McLaren announced on Tuesday morning that Callum Ilott will sub for the injured David Malukas in this weekend’s season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding.

Ilott will drive the No.6 Chevrolet and he says that even though he is focused on WEC he will be around the INDYCAR paddock and will be ready of and when he is called upon.

Speaking to Paddock Eye during a media conference call ahead of race in St Pete, Ilott said that it was important for him to have his recent test with Arrow McLaren even if the previous test was in the Hybrid car.

It is understood that David Malukas could be back in time for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and Ilott confirmed during the conference call that he is available for the Thermal challenge next weekend.
