The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is getting set for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil which takes place NEXT month.
Gasoline Alley is going to be extremely busy this weekend as the Verizon IndyCar Series teams and drivers get ready for the month of May with rookie orientation and refresher test taking place at the Brickyard from April 30 – May 2.
There is extra interest in the event this season particularly with the test as former Verizon IndyCar Series driver Danica Patrick returns to IMS to drive a Verizon IndyCar Series car for the first time since 2011 as she joins Ed Carpenter Racing for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil as this will be her final race before she retires from motorsport.
The month of May is going to be extremely interesting and exciting as we will have familiar faces returning to the Speedway with Helio Castroneves returning to Team Penske to pilot the No.3 Chevrolet in both the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
We also have Danica Patrick returning while Oriol Servia who was recently named as co pace car driver alongside Sarah Fisher will drive for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Carlin Racing will make their Indianapolis 500 debut this year with Max Chilton and Charlie Kimball competing for the team having joined the outfit from Chip Ganassi Racing over the winter.
