Renault F1 Team driver Nico Hulkenberg who will be replaced by Esteban Ocon in 2020 has confirmed that the NTT IndyCar Series is an option for 2020 but that he does not want to race on ovals.

The German’s comments pour cold water on reports that he has signed to race for Ed Carpenter Racing, sharing the No.20 Sonax Chevrolet with team owner Ed Carpenter.

Speaking in Brazil ahead of the penultimate race of the season the German said that he is in no hurry to decide what he will do next season.

Hulkenberg also said that the ovals in IndyCar do not appeal to him.
