The Verizon IndyCar Series and the FIA Formula One world championship look set to share a venue in 2018 for the first time since the Indianapolis Motor Speedway played host to Formula One in 2007.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico city which plays host to the Mexican Grand Prix looks set to be added to the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule.

Paddock Eye understands that a deal for Mexico to host a round of the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 is nearly complete with Chairman of Hulman and Company (the Verizon IndyCar Series parent company) Mark Miles confirming at a deal to see Mexico return to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 is 99% secure.

Esteban Gutierrez who drove for Dale Coyne Racing in 2017 is expected to return to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 but it is unclear what team the ex F1 and Formula E driver will drive for next season.
