The Verizon IndyCar Series could add an extra race to the 2018 schedule which was released earlier this week.
Paddock Eye understands that the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico city which hosts the Formula One Grand Prix could be set to host a round of the Verizon IndyCar Series season in 2018.
The series have added a new track for 2018 with the return of Portland.
The interest in the Verizon IndyCar Series in Mexico was increased in 2017 with former F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez having driven in place of the injured Sebastien Bourdais for Dale Coyne Racing.
The 17 race calendar has been set however, work in ongoing behind the scenes to see if a deal can be reached to host a Mexican Verizon IndyCar Series race in 2018.
There is a potential spot available in March at the start of the season or indeed in August.
