Verizon IndyCar Series drivers James Hinchcliffe and Conor Daly fresh from an appearance at the Canadian International Auto Show on Friday were joined by their fellow driver Josef Newgarden as the trio enjoyed a sport of a different kind as they took in the NBA All Stars weekend.
It was a nice break for the IndyCar stars as earlier this week they were testing ahead of the start of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season which gets underway in just under a month at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
For the Mayor of Hinchtown, James Hinchcliffe it was also an opportunity for him to be at home for a few days as the Toronto native enjoyed some down time ahead of his return to racing in IndyCar following his accident ahead of last season’s Indianapolis 500 which ruled him out for the remainder of the year.
Conor Daly goes from being Hinchcliffe’s team mate at Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to being his rival at Dale Coyne Racing however as the pair said on Friday during the press conference at the Auto Show that they are all friends within IndyCar and just a few hours after the accident that nearly took his life Hinchcliffe was cracking jokes about Marco Andretti who was the first driver to visit him in hospital.
