The Verizon IndyCar Series championship deciding GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma is set to serve up a dramatic finish to a fantastic 2017 season.

Scott Dixon goes into the race aiming for his fifth championship and began his weekend well during Thursday’s open test at Sonoma with sixth fastest time of the day with Newgarden ending the day in ninth.
Team Penske’s other drivers Simon Pagenaud, Helio Castroneves and Will Power had a strong day on Thursday as they finished the 1,2,3 while Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais ended the day as the fastest Honda driver in fourth place.
Andretti Autosport were extremely strong last time out in Watkins Glen with Alexander Rossi winning the race with team mate Ryan Hunter Reay having finished on the podium in third place so Michael Andretti’s outfit could play a crucial role in where the Astor Cup will end up.
