Danica Patrick says that a full-time return to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 is not something that is in her sights.

It was announced on Wednesday that Patrick will not return to Stewart Haas Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2018 due to having no sponsors for next season but she hopes to remain in the sport if the opportunity arises.

It has been reported that Patrick could do a partial IndyCar/NASCAR programme for 2018 but she confirmed on Wednesday evening that she has not heard of such a plan and is hoping to remain in NASCAR.

Patrick competed in the Verizon IndyCar Series with Rahal Letterman Racing in 2005 and 2006 before moving to Andretti Green Racing in 2007 before switching to NASCAR full-time in 2012.
