The NTT IndyCar Series looks set to drop double points for the 2020 season finale which is expected to take in St Petersburg with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg. Reports emerging from the US suggest that the series have taken the decision due to the shortened 2020 season as a result of the ongoing COVID 19 global pandemic.
Double points have been on offer for the NTT IndyCar Series season finale since 2015 when Scott Dixon won his fourth series title beating Team Penske’s Juan Pablo Montoya who won the Indianapolis 500 that year to the crown.
Paddock Eye understands that the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on August 23 will still count for double points.
The season opening Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix presented by Lear double header will provide double points as it is two races.
