The Verizon IndyCar Series should consider a return to Watkins Glen International as a replacement for the Phoenix.

ISM Raceway announced last week that they will note be returning to the 2019 IndyCar Series schedule but hoped to return to the series at some point in the future. WGI joined the Verizon IndyCar Series schedule in 2016 however was dropped ahead of the 2018 season and replaced by Portland.

WGI was a favourite among fans and drivers alike with Scott Dixon winning in 2016 while last year Alexander Rossi completed dominated the weekend taking pole and the win. A number of other tracks have been contacted by the Verizon IndyCar Series to join the schedule for 2019 including Fontana.

This weekend sees the WhetherTech IMSA Championship at Watkins Glen for the Six Hours at tGlen,
