The Verizon IndyCar Series has had an incredible start to their 2018 season. The series have introduced the universal aero kit and has seen Team Penske claim their 200th victory since their first IndyCar race on June 15th 1968.
In the opening four races prior to the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course there had been an incredible 999 on track overtakes during the season and in Saturday’s 85 lap race at the most famous race track in the world there were a further 214 on track overtakes compared with just 96 last year.
The Grand Prix of Indianapolis overtakes combined with the previous races means that heading into the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in two weeks time there has been a grand total of 1,214 on track overtakes in the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season to date.
