President of Hulman and Company, the parent company of the Verizon IndyCar Series, Mark Miles has revealed that the sport will not use the halo cockpit safety device that will be introduced in Formula One next season.

Speaking at the North American International Auto Show, Mr Miles said that due to the fact that the Verizon IndyCar Series race on ovals it is not possible for them to use the halo device as there is no visibility.

Miles revealed however that sport is looking at the possibility of introducing some sort of windscreen.

Miles said that the series continue to work on improving cock-pit protection for the drivers and he believes that they will introduce the windscreen style device instead of the halo device.
